Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 12, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how The Fluent Report ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you visit thefluentreport.com (the "Site"), subscribe to our newsletter, or otherwise interact with our content. The Fluent Report is an advertorial publication covering language learning, communication, and global living, operated by Growth Studio, LLC. Articles on the Site include sponsored content, affiliate links, and content created in partnership with advertisers.

By using the Site, you agree to the practices described below. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

1. Scope of This Policy

This Policy covers data we collect through the Site and related properties we control. It does not cover third-party websites or services we link to, including advertisers, partner publications, or platforms we may reference in editorial content. Those third parties operate under their own privacy policies, and we encourage you to review them.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information you provide directly

  • Email address, name, and any other details you submit when subscribing to our newsletter, signing up for updates, or completing a form on the Site.
  • Survey or quiz responses you choose to provide (for example, self-reported language level, learning goals, or country).
  • Correspondence you send us, including support requests, feedback, comments, and pitches.

2.2 Information collected automatically

When you visit the Site, we and our service providers automatically collect:

  • Device and browser information (browser type, operating system, device type, screen size, language settings).
  • Network information (IP address, approximate geographic location derived from IP, internet service provider).
  • Usage information (pages viewed, time on page, scroll depth, clicks, referring and exit pages, the search terms or links that brought you to the Site).
  • Cookies, pixels, web beacons, and similar tracking technologies (see Section 5).

2.3 Information from third parties

Analytics and advertising partners (including Meta Platforms, Inc., TikTok, Google LLC, and similar platforms) may share aggregated or hashed information about how users found or interacted with our content.

Service providers who help us run the Site, send email, and measure marketing performance may provide us with information related to their services.

Publicly available sources we may consult for editorial research.

3. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Site.
  • Publish, recommend, and personalize editorial content.
  • Send newsletters, updates, and marketing communications you have requested.
  • Measure how our content and advertising perform, including by attributing visits and conversions across our marketing channels.
  • Deliver targeted advertising to you on third-party platforms based on your interactions with the Site.
  • Respond to your questions, comments, and requests.
  • Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, security issues, and violations of our terms.
  • Comply with legal obligations, enforce our rights, and protect users and third parties.

3.1 Legal bases (EEA, UK, and Swiss users)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we process your personal data under the following legal bases:

  • Consent — for non-essential cookies, tracking pixels, and marketing emails. You can withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legitimate interests — for analytics, security, fraud prevention, and improving the Site, where our interests are not overridden by your rights.
  • Contract performance — to deliver content or services you have requested, such as a newsletter subscription.
  • Legal obligation — to comply with applicable laws and regulatory requirements.

4. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information for money. We share information in the following circumstances:

4.1 Service providers

We share data with vendors that operate the Site and our marketing on our behalf, including:

  • Website hosting and content management providers.
  • Email delivery and marketing automation platforms.
  • Analytics providers, including Google Analytics.
  • Advertising and attribution platforms, including Meta Ads, TikTok Ads, Google Ads, and similar networks.
  • Customer support and form-handling tools.
  • Security, fraud prevention, and infrastructure providers.

These providers are contractually required to use your information only for the services they provide to us.

4.2 Advertising and analytics partners

We use advertising and analytics technologies operated by third parties, including the Meta Pixel (Meta Platforms, Inc.), the TikTok Pixel (TikTok), Google Analytics and Google Ads tracking (Google LLC), and similar retargeting and analytics technologies. Through these technologies, these platforms receive information including device identifiers, IP address, approximate location, pages viewed, time on the Site, links clicked, actions taken (such as form submissions), and other behavioral data. These platforms combine this information with information they have collected about you from other sources to deliver targeted advertising on their platforms and across their networks.

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the CPRA, and under similar laws in Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas, and other states, this activity constitutes "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. California residents and residents of other applicable states have the right to opt out of this sharing. See Section 8 for instructions.

Each advertising platform's use of your information is governed by its own privacy policy:

4.3 Editorial and sponsorship partners

As an advertorial publication, we work with advertisers whose products are featured in our content. Standard advertising attribution data may be shared with these partners to measure campaign performance. We do not directly transfer personal data to these partners outside of standard advertising attribution mechanisms.

4.4 Legal and safety

We may disclose information if we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law, legal process, or governmental request, or is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of The Fluent Report, our users, or others.

4.5 Business transfers

If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of assets, information we hold may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to standard confidentiality protections.

5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the Site, remember your preferences, measure performance, and support marketing. Categories include:

  • Strictly necessary — required for the Site to function, such as security and basic navigation.
  • Analytics — help us understand how visitors use the Site (for example, Google Analytics).
  • Advertising and attribution — help us measure ad performance and show relevant ads on other platforms (for example, the Meta Pixel, the TikTok Pixel, and Google Ads tags).
  • Preferences — remember choices you make, such as language or display settings.

Where required by law, we request your consent before placing non-essential cookies through a cookie consent banner. You can change your preferences at any time using the cookie settings link on the Site, or by adjusting your browser settings. Blocking cookies may affect Site functionality.

We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, where required by applicable law.

For platform-specific advertising controls, you can also adjust your preferences directly:

6. Affiliate Links and Sponsored Content

The Fluent Report includes editorial content, sponsored content, and affiliate links. Some articles promote products and services offered by third parties. When you click an affiliate or sponsored link, the destination site may use cookies and other tracking technologies to attribute your visit and any purchase to us, and we may receive compensation.

Sponsored content and affiliate relationships are disclosed in or near the relevant article. Disclosures do not change the price you pay. Once you leave the Site, you are subject to the destination site's privacy policy and terms.

7. Data Retention

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this Policy, including to provide the Site, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Typical retention periods:

  • Newsletter and account data: until you unsubscribe or request deletion, plus a limited period for record-keeping.
  • Analytics and advertising data: typically up to 26 months, or as configured in the relevant platform.
  • Support correspondence: typically up to 24 months after the last interaction.
  • Logs and security data: typically up to 12 months, longer if required for investigations.

Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights regarding your personal information:

  • Access — ask what personal information we hold about you.
  • Correction — ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
  • Deletion — ask us to delete personal information, subject to legal exceptions.

  • Objection or restriction — object to or restrict certain processing.

  • Opt out of targeted advertising — opt out of cross-context behavioral or targeted advertising.
  • Limit use of sensitive personal information — under California law, limit how we use certain categories of sensitive personal information.
  • Non-discrimination — not be treated differently for exercising your rights.

8.1 How to exercise your rights

Email hello@thefluentreport.com with your request. To exercise your right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information specifically, California residents may also use the "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link in the Site footer.

We will verify your identity using information we already have or by asking for limited additional details. We aim to respond to verifiable consumer requests within 45 days, with one possible extension of 45 additional days where reasonably necessary.

8.2 Authorized agents

You may authorize an agent to submit a request on your behalf. We may require written authorization signed by you and, in some cases, verification of the agent's identity. Authorized agent requests are subject to the same verification standards as direct requests.

8.3 Marketing emails

You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the link in the footer of any email, or by contacting us. We may still send you transactional or service-related messages.

8.4 Complaints

If you are in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland and believe we have not addressed your concern, you may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. If you are in California, you may also contact the California Attorney General.

9. International Data Transfers

If you access the Site from outside the country where our servers and service providers operate, your information will be transferred to and processed in those countries. These countries may have data protection laws that differ from those in your country.

Where required by law, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers, including the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, and we rely on supplementary measures where appropriate.

10. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials and devices secure.

11. Children's Privacy

The Site is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 16, please contact us at hello@thefluentreport.com and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

12. Third-Party Links and Content

The Site contains links to third-party websites, services, and embedded content (for example, video players, social media embeds, and partner offers). We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before sharing information with them.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, provide additional notice (such as a banner on the Site or an email to subscribers). Your continued use of the Site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
